Rock Climbing in Mauritius

Though Mauritius is relatively flat in terms of climbable cliffs and crags, there a few spots to scramble on and better still -  a few unclimbed faces.

We usually  offer 1/2 day initiation classes at the Belle Vue Cliffs at Albion (under the light house). The basaltic cliffs are 15m high with one bolted route and the rest to be trad-climbed or top roped. Difficulty varies from 4c to 7a (french quote) with plenty of routes to zig-zag across.

If you are planning to do some climbing here we recommend that you bring your climbing boots and chalk and 50m of rope. This should suffice to tame your rock-craze at the Belle Vue Cliffs.

If you are planning to do some serious climbing. We suggest that you pack in 2 x 50m rope and your rack. We will be glad to show you some unclimbed routes - you could leave Mauritius with one route bearing your name... who knows?

If you have never climbed before and you are suffering from the following symptoms:

  • Muscles aching for action
  • Fingers itching for the contact of rock
  • The thought that you are something like a lizard and trying to cling on walls and rock faces,

Then we offer rock climbing courses where you will learn the basics of free climbing (rope handling, knots, use of equipment, communication patterns, basic rock moves etc..)

Why don't you contact us for more details?
