Maccabée Trail - Black River

Staring Point :  Le Petrin Junction

Altitude :        +625m

Finish              Point: Black River National Parks Parking lot

Altitude :         +12m

Distance :       10 km

Starting off from Le Petrin we will follow a scenic track through the Maccabée forest, home to the remnant of our native forest and endemic birds. Several breath taking views offer great possibilities of snapshots. The track stops at a viewpoint giving on the west coast. A small steep footpath will cut thought the forest and take us down to the lower part of the national parks towards Black River. We will meet The Black River at an ancient dike and have lunch at a kiosk. We are then 45m away from the trailhead.

There is the possibility of adding a 2km loop to the track by making a detour to the Mare aux Jonc Waterfalls on our way.
