Mare Aux Joncs – Waterfall - Mare Longue

Starting off Le Petrin junction we will hike into the Machabée forest and discover the scenic views onto the Grande gorges and Black river Gorges and its lush green vegetation. A footpath will then take us to the edge of a waterfall that crashes into the Mare aux Joncs gorges down below. 

We usually have lunch at the waterfall before taking another trail that will lead us back to the cars in another one and a half hour walk. There is also the possibility of taking a left and continue to the Mare Longue reservoir adding some 8 more km to the hike. We will then walk around the circumference of the reservoir before crossing the dam and meeting up with the cars at the reservoir gate.
