Starting off Le Petrin Forestry post we will walk through the Maccabée forest and discover the beautiful Mare aux Joncs Waterfalls and then contour the Mare Longue Lake to return to the Petrin information park.

This hike offers beautiful sceneries of the black river gorges and a stop over on the edge of the Mare aux Joncs waterfalls with its lush green view into its gorge.

The itinerary includes some steep down slopes in a humid and muddy environment.

Vegetation in this part of this island is quite characteristic of typical semi-tropical forests.
